01
Will my child get in from where we live?
Your child's group, phase by phase, at every school near your address, from the results MOE has published.
02
Is a move worth it, and where?
Homes ranked by how much each would change your child's position at the schools you choose, with prices, rents and bedrooms.
03
What if the ballot goes against us?
Every route through the phases, and the fallback that still works if the first application isn't successful.
The strategy engine
Give it your shortlist. It works out every route.
Comparing five schools and five homes by hand means dozens of combinations of home, phase and fallback, each with its own ballot history. The engine reads them all against five years of results, and shows you which routes have held up.
You add
- Your child
- Citizenship, P1 year, and any connection: a sibling, a parent who studied there, volunteering
- Up to 5 schools
- From anywhere in Singapore, in your order of preference
- Up to 5 homes
- From Best fit or any address, plus staying where you are
The engine checks
- Every home
- Its distance group at each of your schools, block by block, with homes close to a line shown both ways
- Every phase
- Where your child can apply first, and where they can still apply if that fails
- Five years
- How your child's group fared in each phase, not just last year
You get
- The safest route
- The home and phase most likely to get a place at one of your schools, on past results
- Your best shot at your first choice
- And the fallback that still works if the ballot goes against you
- What it would take
- The change that would do better: a closer home, a connection, a different phase
Routes and fallbacks: an example
Not one answer. Every route, and what happens if it fails.
P1 registration runs in phases, and a child who isn't successful in one phase can apply again in a later one. So the real question is not “which school?” but “which route?”: which home, which phase first, and where you land if the ballot goes against you.
| Route | First application, 2025 | If not successful |
|---|---|---|
| Stay, and apply to Woodlands Primary School Safest | Phase 2C · Woodlands Primary School No ballot, 2025 | Not needed in 2025: no ballot was held in this phase |
| Stay, and aim for Nanyang Unlikely | Phase 2C · Nanyang · beyond 2km Places did not reach your group, 2025 42 places, 63 applicants in the phase | Phase 2C Supplementary, only at schools with places left |
| Move within 1 km of Nanyang Best shot at Nanyang | Phase 2B · Nanyang · within 1km 38% got in 20 places for 53 applicants in this group | Phase 2C at Nanyang: a second chance at the same school |
Worked example A Singapore Citizen girl, not a real family. Figures are MOE's published results for the 2025 exercise. One year is shown here; the planner reads five. Past results, not a forecast.
Still to check: Phase 2B depends on parent volunteering, which the example family hasn't confirmed. MOE's requirement is 40 hours by 2027-06-30. A family that moves must also meet MOE's 30-month stay requirement at the new address (see the FAQ).

Method
How the distance works
MOE measures from the school's site boundary to the home's building outline. We follow the same method with public data, and it is our reading, not MOE's. The school's site comes from URA's Master Plan, and a home's outline from HDB's building footprints or, for private homes, OpenStreetMap. Where we hold no outline for a home, we measure from its map point instead.
We also take the simpler point-to-point reading for every home. We show a single distance group only when the two agree and the home is more than 30 m from a 1 km or 2 km line. Otherwise we show both possible groups and what each would mean, rather than pick one. MOE confirms every home's official group.
Results are MOE's published P1 registration results by phase and distance group, each shown with its year and source. No figure on housing rests on fewer than three records.
